FAQ's

There are no specific age requirements for membership access, although the course was specifically designed for guitar students in the general age range of 35 years old and up. We do, however, have many younger students that simply prefer to learn the classic rock, pop, blues and country music of an earlier generation. We don't check your I.D. at the door!

How long will it take me to learn guitar?

The progress you make on the guitar is different for everyone depending on, amount of time devoted to practice, desire to learn, and musical aptitude. The course was designed with short lessons that can each be completed daily with the goal of being able to play songs within 30 days, and becoming well acquainted with playing lead guitar within 90 days.

What kind of guitar will I need for this course?

An acoustic or electric guitar is recommended. We would not advise a classical guitar as they are not well suited for playing rock, blues and country music. The Beginner and Intermediate Guitar Lessons courses are taught on an acoustic guitar and the Lead Guitar 101 and Cool Lick Series focus more on electric guitar, but either one will suffice. Do I have to learn how to read music?

Absolutely not! In fact, this course was designed for the guitar student who does not have the time, or the desire, to learn how to read music, or to learn a lot of music theory. AdultGuitarLessons.com focuses on showing the student how to play guitar by ear, by feel and by pattern, the fast and easy way!

I am starting from scratch, where do I begin?

If you are at ground zero on the guitar, the best place to get started is our Tutorials section and become familiar with basic guitar concepts such as, how to hold the guitar, how to hold the pick, how to read chord diagrams, TAB's and music charts, how to tune the guitar and more.

Do you provide DVDs and books for the course?

AdultGuitarLessons.com is a totally online guitar program for several reasons. First, to greatly reduce the costs of the course by not having to produce and ship products to our students. Second, because DVDs and books can easily become lost or damaged and have to be replaced. And third, because we are continually updating and adding to the program, which would not be possible with DVDs and books.

I already know how to play guitar a little bit. Will this course help me?

This course is designed for the beginner to intermediate guitar player. An advanced guitarist may not find a lot on new information here, but we are in the process of developing an advanced course.

Do you provide sheet music or charts for complete songs?

Due to copyright concerns we are unable to provide full sheet music scores or original recordings of the songs that are taught in the course. You will be able to play most of the songs completely following the lessons, but if you want the sheet music, there are many online sources to purchase them. For listening to recordings to play along with, most any song can be found on YouTube.

If I get stuck is there anyone who can help?

How much does it cost?

After an initial sign-up fee there is a minimal monthly fee for Full Access which includes all the Beginner Guitar Lessons, Intermediate Guitar Lessons, Lead Guitar 101 and the popular Cool Lick Series. In addition, your membership includes unlimited email support, unlimited updates, and complete access to all the new features, revisions and specials that are being continually added to the program. Private guitar lessons can run around $25 for a 30 minute lesson once a week, which would be $100 a month or over $1,200 per year. Do I have to sign a contract?

You will never be asked to sign a contract or make a long term commitment to AdultGuitarLessons.com. We want to make membership as easy as possible, and if you ever decide that the program is no longer for you, simply opt out!

What if I have a suggestion or special request?

Many of the updates and additions to the course are based on requests from our members. We have an "open door" policy and always welcome your comments, concerns and suggestions. Just Contact Us!

What is your refund policy?

Although we believe that we provide the most comprehensive online guitar course possible, we also understand that it may not be for everyone. You will have a full 30 days to try us out and if you are unhappy for any reason we will give you a full "no questions asked" refund on the initial sign-up fee. Beyond the initial 30 days, if you decide to opt out, you will continue to have full access for your current monthly billing cycle, and will not be billed any further. Unfortunately our billing system does not allow for the prorating of a monthly fee if you opt out in the middle of a monthly billing cycle.
